The Benefits of Brine

Here at Nate's, we believe so strongly in the benefits of brine application for ice control that we purchased our own brine maker! Brine is a solution of salt and water that is a powerful ally in combating icy conditions during the winter months. Brine has a lower freezing point than water, lowering the temperature at which water freezes to around 18°F. This makes it harder for ice to bond to roads and other surfaces, and it also helps prevent snow from being compacted by vehicle traffic, which can turn into ice.

Not only does brine effectively melt ice and snow, but its proactive application can also prevent the formation of hazardous icy patches, enhancing safety for pedestrians and drivers alike. Unlike traditional rock salt, brine adheres better to surfaces, providing longer-lasting results while reducing the overall amount of salt needed.
